Variquest Cutout Maker 1800
Your gift will purchase The Cutout Maker 1800 for the lower school faculty and staff. This Cutout creates manipulatives, cutouts, and bulletin board displays with various sized shapes and letters at the touch of a button. It also cuts laminated construction paper.
With 3,800 shapes, 14 fonts, 172 bulletin boards and modules for Math, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts, The Cutout will help engage visual and kinesthetic learners!
Additionally, going digital saves time, money, and space in the workroom while helping teachers differentiate lesson plans easily.
Reading Room Re-do
Your gift will redesign the Lower School Reading Room. The students who come here, are creative, kind, hard-working, smart, and above all, each one has an unbelievable sense of perseverance and grit. In this room, students become confident in themselves, take risks without the fear of embarrassment, and face obstacles and challenges that other children do not. In this room, there is laughter and joy as we conquer the rules of the English language and develop a love of reading.
Many students become anxious when reading, and flexible seating (oodle stools), mobile dry-erase tables, and smaller furniture will bring a sense of home into the room, make the students more comfortable, and help them concentrate on their reading. Finally, painting the room a shade of lavender will bring an overall calmness to the room.

Your gift will purchase this four person, crystal-clear plastic tub water table, which would provide an exciting way to stimulate sensory tactile discovery both indoors and outdoors.
Our preschool students will be able to enjoy water play as part of a small group or independently. As a group, children use time at the water table to socialize, communicate, interact, and role play. For the child who enjoys a little alone time, the water table can be a relaxing and soothing experience.
Your gift will purchase this toolkit which turns paper pulp into handmade paper. This toolkit would allow lower school students to learn the process of how paper is made through reused and recycled paper and other items. Students would be able to make new art materials out of recycled goods, which would enhance curriculum development. Handmade paper is an amazing material for sculptural objects, and this kit would enrich the students' understanding of how paper can be made into 2D and 3D forms.

Your gift will purchase an Outlast Play Set for use by Montessori and Kindergarten students. These waterproof blocks deliver all of the benefits of outdoor open-ended block play and support math, science, engineering, and critical thinking in young children. A strong foundation in these skills has proven to benefit students throughout their educational and adult lives.
Triple Beam Balances - Set of 15
Your gift will purchase 15 triple beam balances to be used in all three Middle School Science classes. A triple beam balance is a device used to measure the mass of an object. All triple beam balances include a pan, three beams, three counterweights, a pointer, and a scale. Students learn to calibrate weight by reading the three counterweights.
MakeBlock Ultimate 2.0 10-in-1 Robotics Kit with Electronics - Set of Five
Your gift will purchase five robotics kits for our Middle School Robotics Club. Each kit includes ten building forms for different applications and a MakeBlock MegaPi Microcontroller. These kits will serve as excellent learning tools for robotics, electronics, graphical programming, Arduino programming, and Phython programming.

This newly released robotics set, paired with a new programming tool, offers more balanced emphasis on both engineering and programming. The mechanism of the models are easier to understand and duplicate, which makes building less intimidating for some of the beginner students. The programming tool is based on the widely adopted Scratch platform, which offers smoother transition to text-based programming language when the students are ready.
Currently, the Intro to Robotics course in Middle School utilizes Lego EV3 to teach students on engineering and programming. Since EV3 offers a wide spectrum of potential in engineering, the curriculum leans more on engineering than programming. Switching to SPIKE sets for the Intro Robotics class can reduce the learning curve for beginner students, while more experienced students can choose to work with EV3.
Form 3 SLA 3D Printer
Your gift will purchase the highest-rated resin-based 3D printer with high precision for accurate rendering with details. Our Robotics classes and teams have developed more and more needs for small and detailed parts. The recently approved Bioengineering course includes activities where the students will design and produce small parts. The Form 3 SLA printer can fill the needs for the robotics and bioengineering curriculum.
Ward's® Groundwater Simulation System
Your gift will purchase the Groundwater Simulation System which will be used to demonstrate basic groundwater principles. This kit includes a clear acrylic tank and stand, two plastic recharge bottles with stoppers, four types of sand and gravel, funnel dispenser for tank setup, two 60 cc syringes for dye injection and well pumping, water soluble dye, and all the necessary fittings for system water flow and drainage.
This simulation system will assist in teaching the students concepts such as porosity and permeability, rate of groundwater flow, characteristics of aquifers, well contamination, and surface leaching of pollutants. Students will be able to see how groundwater works and how humans can potentially impact groundwater systems. More advanced applications may be used in the AP Environmental Science classes.

Lynxmotion Aluminum A6WD2 Rover Kit
Your gift will purchase the Lynxmotion 6WD Rover Kit A6WD2, a robust, modifiable, and expandable chassis for robot experimentation for Upper School Robotics. It is made from heavy-duty anodized aluminum structural brackets, and ultra-tough laser-cut Lexan panels. By utilizing RC truck tires and wheels, the robot has excellent traction. Using small NiMH battery packs, and the Sabertooth 2x10 R/C motor controller, means there is plenty of room on top for additional electronics and up to a 6 lb. payload.
Lynxmotion Pete Humanoid Biped Robot
Your gift will purchase the Lynxmotion Pete Humanoid Development Platform servo based biped walker with gripper hands for Upper School Robotics. Pete’s gripper hands enable Pete to walk forward or backwards, and turn in place, left or right, with variable speed. Pete has five degrees of freedom per leg, five degrees of freedom per arm, and two degrees of freedom in the head. Since the kit is based on the Servo Erector Set (S.E.S.), the parts can be used to make a variety of other robots such as quadrupeds, hexapods, robot arms, and more.

Gosky Microscope Lens Adapter, Microphone Smartphone Camera Adaptor - Set of Eight
Your gift will purchase these lens adapters which will assist as students photograph the many images they see under the microscope. Having precise photos will allow the students to further inspect the images by zooming in on the photo they take, to sketch the organism as part of the lab report, or for their own personal use (showing parents, or using a background photo). It is very challenging to balance the lens of the phone at just the right angle of the eyepiece to allow for a quality photograph to be captured. This often leads to students spending large periods of time working on getting a photo, or getting frustrated and not taking the photo at all. These adapters would provide students the opportunity to take as many photos as they need to enhance their learning experience. In addition, microscopic photography is an entire art field which could be potentially exploded through further ease of taking these photos.

Your gift will purchase eight microscopes for the growing Upper School Life Science curriculum. These new microscopes would help to replace and update the microscopes used by three Upper School Science labs. As with all hands-on tools, microscopes experience wear over time and need replacing. There is also a level of updating that is done to new microscopes over time. Your gift would enhance students’ ability to investigate and experiment to the fullest level, allowing for their continued engagement and better preparedness.
Mettler Toledo™ NewClassic ME Analytical Balances - Two Needed
Your gift will purchase state-of-the-art analytical balances to be used across the Science curriculum. While performing experiments and simulating actual scientists in a lab, AP Chemistry and Honor Chemistry students will be able to prep and make solutions and measure chemicals with more accuracy and precision. Biology students will use the balance to perform student-designed experiments in class, like their zebra fish embryo experiment they created this year. Built-in applications include formulation, totaling, dynamic weighing, piece counting, density, percent weighing, check weighing, statistics, and free factor.
Track & Field Fully Automated Timing System
Your gift will purchase the Track & Field Fully Automated Timing System. This system would allow Athletics to highlight our Track & Field Program, host district and state level meets, put our program on the map, and produce the most accurate results in timing.
Pottery Wheel (ONE FUNDED, ONE STILL NEEDED)
Your gift will purchase the Brent CXC or C pottery wheels which would be used for throwing clay vessels. The CXC includes a reversible electronic speed control, powder-coated legs, all-steel construction, automatic belt tensioning, and a cast aluminum 14" wheel head.
We currently do not have enough wheels to accommodate all students in a class. Students must rotate with another project and instructor must teach two groups two lessons in two spaces during the same period. Adding two wheels would accommodate a full group. By adding this equipment, skills are reinforced daily for better learning outcomes and greater student success.

Your gift will purchase two iPads and a walkie-talkie system for the Dance Program. iPads will be used to enhance studio time and the walkie-talkies, with crystal voice transmission and high-quality covert air acoustic earpieces, would be used during all of our Dance productions.
Your gift will purchase Scripts for the SMH Middle and Upper School Theater Script Library. These scripts will be used by Middle and Upper School Speech & Drama classes to help prepare students for contests.

Filtration System Ductless Spray Hood - 40” Wide Model
Your gift will purchase a filtration system to enhance the Visual Arts Department. The Spray Booth controls aerosol spray, and protects the user’s respiratory zone while also preventing unwanted spray from entering the general work area. The benchtop hood eliminates the need for external ducting or costly replacement air, and is used for light spray painting, aerosol sprays, epoxy overspray, touch-up painting, conformal coating fumes, and a variety of other processes.
