We are so proud to announce that SMH Cinema won FIRST PLACE at the All-American High School Film Festival last night! This national, invitation-only event is the premier destination for talented high school filmmakers and media arts enthusiasts worldwide.
This is our School’s 4th consecutive time to be nominated for Best Film in this competition and our first win. Big congratulations to our incredible Cinema students and Cinema teacher, Will Underwood!
This year, SMH students screened 6 films, including the Film Invitational film, which was written, directed, and produced in 56 hours, and the JETTY Brand competition film, which was made in 32 hours.
Other SMH films included “Daisies” directed by Ana Testas ‘24 with SMH Crew, “Zoom Class” by Haden Hoelscher ‘24, “A film by Emily Cox” by Emily Cox ‘23, and “V2” directed by Alex Schroeder ‘23 with SMH Crew. “V2” was nominated for awards in 2 categories; Best VFX, and Best Sci Fi/Horror.
Our Complete Experience film, “What You Don’t Know: A Driver’s Story,” took 'Best Film Invitational: Complete Experience Winner' at the 2023 Teen Indie Awards, beating out 40 other teams from all across the country.
