“Real World” Math in Form 7

“When are we ever going to use this Math in the real world?”  This question is asked often in a middle school classroom.  During the third quarter, Pre-Algebra students were connecting their math skills to the real world. 

The math unit project began with students feeling very hungry as they looked at different menus and picked a variety of items for their meal.  The challenge for the group was making sure to stay within their budget after the discount, tax, and tip percentages. 

Be sure to ask your kids to help you calculate prices using these percents!
