One of the reasons Saint Mary's Hall is so special is the sense of family and community. Despite starting school on August 17 virtually, SMH is working hard to preserve that connection with our families as we begin the 2020-2021 school year in the virtual phase.
On Monday, Saint Mary's Hall welcomed faculty and staff back to campus to prepare for the 2020-2021 School Year (practicing physical distancing guidelines). The first day began with Head of School Len Miller hosting the opening Faculty and Staff In-Service Meeting via Zoom. During the meeting, he talked about the ONE|SMH: The 2020-2021 School Year, welcomed new faculty and staff, and shared a video from SMH students. In the video, the Class of 2021 and other students give a very special thank you to SMH faculty and staff and celebrate the new school year at Saint Mary's Hall.
Since the pandemic forced classes online, faculty and staff have been participating in professional development, department/vertical team meetings, technology training, and preparing their classrooms for our initial virtual learning phase of the school year. In addition, Lower School is hosting virtual parent/teacher meet and greets and Middle School is hosting their virtual Form 6 and New Students/Family Orientation. Upper School welcomed their incoming freshmen and new students at the Form 9 and New Upper School Student/Parent Orientation last week.
To officially kick off the school year, SMH held its first ever Baron Bazaar Brigade, a safe and fun version of our annual Baron Bazaar back-to-school event. Families were treated to curbside service where they received their textbooks, school supplies, and even some surprises. Faculty and staff were on hand to cheer and welcome families back to campus with smiles, signs, and pompoms.
The First Day of School is August 17 and Saint Mary's Hall is excited to begin the school year and welcome back our Barons! Virtually or in person, the first day of school is always a special one.
