A Triumphant Commencement: Honoring the Exceptional Class of 2025

A Triumphant Commencement: Honoring the Exceptional Class of 2025

On Friday, May 23, the extraordinary members of the Saint Mary’s Hall Class of 2025 marked a defining milestone in their educational journeys as they crossed the stage at Commencement. In the days leading up to this pinnacle moment, the entire SMH community came together to honor and celebrate these remarkable students with heartfelt tradition and exuberant spirit.

The celebrations began with our beloved College Shirt Day, where students of all ages lined the campus to cheer for the seniors, who wore their college t-shirts and decorated uniform skirts and pants with the mascots and colors of the impressive array of colleges they will attend. At the poignant Baccalaureate Ceremony, our esteemed Chaplain, Rev. Dr. Fredricc Gerard Brock, offered a powerful reflection on what it means to walk the right way. Laughter and tears flowed during the Senior Video, and caps flew at the Upper School Awards Ceremony, a festive culmination of the seniors’ many achievements. The Alumni Lunch marked their formal induction into the SMH Alumni Association, where graduates were welcomed into a lifelong network of scholars and leaders.

The final week also held other moments of joy and camaraderie: kickball and ultimate frisbee matches, visits to former classrooms, Senior Spotlights, Athletics Awards, and the cherished Senior Sunset—each moment etched with meaning and memory.

On Commencement Day, the energy was palpable as the soon-to-be-graduates formed the traditional Senior Line, joyfully embracing faculty and staff with hugs, high-fives, and heartfelt goodbyes before processing into the ceremony. Inside, a spirit of reverence and celebration filled the space. With grace and pride, students received honors and diplomas from Board of Trustees Chair Elise Ring Boyan, Head of Upper School Dr. Elizabeth Stockdale, Rev. Dr. Brock, and Head of School Len Miller. Beloved teacher, coach, and colleague Brian Kaestner was memorialized with an honorary diploma and the Jamie Armstrong Bennett Award, and in a stirring address, Class President Ash Menick ’25 reflected on the shared journey of the Class of 2025, reminding classmates that, “Nobody runs their race alone.”

Saint Mary’s Hall proudly celebrates these 68 graduates for their resilience, intellect, character, and vision. This year's school motto—Sursum Specta. Gaudium Quaere. Magna Spera.—translated as Look Up. Find Joy. Dream Big, proved to be not just aspirational but fully realized in the Class of 2025.

As they step boldly into the next chapter of their lives, our graduates will join esteemed institutions across the country, carrying with them the enduring spirit of Saint Mary’s Hall. We are deeply proud of all they have accomplished and all they will become.

Congratulations to the Saint Mary’s Hall Class of 2025.
