SMH Volunteer Ignites a Spark to Make a Difference

Fabiola Kaase truly embodies what it means to be a volunteer.  While her spirit is humble, her enthusiasm is infectious, and her passion for all things Saint Mary’s Hall is contagious. Her eagerness to face new initiatives is tempered with patience and creativity. 

Fabiola loves partnering with the school and she is amazed everyday by the people at SMH who always welcome her with a smile, make her laugh, make her feel at home, and impart their wisdom. From her first days on campus six years ago, she has formed some amazing friendships.

This will be our home for 15 years and we just want to lean in and support the school on a daily basis.

Working with parents, faculty, staff, alumni, grandparents, volunteers, and donors fills her bucket.  Her goal is always to connect with our community in hopes of better understanding each family’s journey at SMH, while embracing the traditions at Saint Mary’s Hall. She believes that to make an impact and affect the mission of the school, one should lead by example, whether that is tying ribbons on trees, helping with vision tests, working with school leadership, or organizing a parent coffee.

Having served as Passport 2019 Chair and The SMH Fund 2021 Chair, Fabiola has now turned her focus to the Parent Engagement Circle. She believes that this new Circle “will sustain us and bind us together where we can uplift our faculty, staff, and children.” While definitely results oriented, Fabiola gently reminds us that achieving a goal is really all about bringing joy and people together.  “At the end of the day, when you have a successful event, or you reach a goal, you know that is not because of you, but because of all these people who came together.”

Looking to the future, she wants her children to have a positive experience, to enjoy their time on campus, and to look back with many fond memories. 

Amazing volunteers like Fabiola think less about what they can get from the experience of volunteering and more about what and how they can contribute. Fabiola shared one of her favorite quotes by Maya Angelou, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” 

Fabiola’s positive leadership, can do attitude, and willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done helps sustain the school. She is a creative ball of energy who ignites a spark in the heart of others to be the change and make a difference every day.
