Veterans Day Speakers

In celebration of Veterans Day, guest speakers visit Middle and Upper School Chapels to speak about significant sacrifices our military servicemen and servicewomen make. Lower School students also honor current and former military personnel during their Morning Moments Veterans Day Recognition Ceremony. As visiting veterans enter the building, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts salute them. Students then introduced their special guests to the entire Lower School before enjoying a casual breakfast. Past visitors to Middle and Upper School Chapel include:

  • Sergeant First Class Jared Bullock - A member of the Army Special Forces, whose vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device while serving a tour in Afghanistan.
  • Alan Babin - Army veteran who was wounded in Iraq while serving with the prestigious 82nd Airborne Division, and recipient of both a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.
  • Dr. Granville Coggs - One of the original Tuskegee Airmen, recipient of the Congressional Gold Medal, and a trailblazing doctor.
  • Rear Admiral (Ret) A.B. Cruz, Mr. Henry Hirsh, Lt Col (Ret) Shan Largoza, and Mr. Edwin Montalvo, and Dr. Mark Clark, all of whom are family members of Saint Mary's Hall students or faculty and spoke on how their military experiences taught them life-changing values such as integrity, courage, and service.
