The annual Saint Mary’s Hall Christmas Dance was a tradition for students. Hosted by seniors for Form 10 and Form 11 girls, this special occasion often took place in a ballroom with an orchestra. The Class of 1946 planned a wonderful celebration, with festive decorations including Christmas trees, colored lights, and ornaments. La Reata reporter Stacie Caul described the event in the 1946 La Reata this way, “Dancing, laughing, talking! Friends separated by the war were once more happily greeting one another.  No one thought of the time.  When the orchestra played ‘Good Night Sweetheart,’ everyone looked at the other in surprise ‘Why we’ve only just arrived.’”

Special thanks to Bonnie Sue Dilworth Jacobs '50 for sending us picture details.  She sent in the “scoop,” falling back on her investigative skills as a reporter for 61 years.  A little birdie told us that at one time Bonnie Sue was also the editor of La Reata.
