Saint Mary's Hall Class of 1893 (1893)
The Shield, Spring 2015

Saint Mary’s Hall was founded in 1879, as boarding and day school for girls of all faiths. The Spring 2015 issue of The Shield includes the earliest photo the school has on file for a graduating class … the Class of 1893. There were only seven young ladies in this graduating class (from left to right) Ida Oppenheimer, May Keller, Lillian Knight, Mary Heard, Ada Waelder, and May Cresson. Missing from the photo was Emma Bell, who was ill the day the photographer came to school. It was the only day she was ill the entire school year. Emma was also the valedictorian as well as the only one in her class who had received her entire education from Saint Mary’s Hall.
