Through thought-provoking field trips and visits from guest artists to campus, students learn how the arts can transcend their lives as students beyond SMH.

• Winning Combination - The Saint Mary's Hall Upper School Speech and Debate Program is consistently one of the top ​five in the state and is one of the top 20 in the nation. Throughout the school year, Speech and Debate students win awards for their acting, public speaking, and debating in competitive tournaments across the nation at prestigious national tournaments.
• The Art of Performance - Under the instruction of expert faculty, theater and drama students are exposed to the art and craft of performance by developing theater skills of acting, characterization, movement, mime, puppetry, directing, playwriting, scenic construction, and lighting & design.
• Discovering Theater Arts - Through thought-provoking annual field trips to study musical theater with Broadway professionals (including workshops cast members from Dear Evan Hansen!) to visits from guest artists such as alumnus and opera singer Cristina Castro (’09) and musical theater performer Alex Hebert, our students learn how the arts can transcend their lives beyond SMH.  They are also able to envision ways they might turn their passions into a career!
