Forming Creative Musicians

Music exploration at SMH begins in Montessori, and involves the use of student’s voices and bodies, as well as the use of props and instruments. Saint Mary’s Hall Lower School music is Orff-centered, which allows students to learn at their own levels of understanding while engaging with the music both physically and mentally. Programs in singing, rhyming, dancing, and playing instruments are designed to stimulate a student’s response to music in multiple ways.

In Middle and Upper School, students can choose from an impressive array of instruments as a member of Band or Orchestra, or stretch their vocal skills in Middle School Chorus Club and the Upper School vocal ensemble/show choir Vocal Integration Project (VIP).
