Overview
Field Hockey Program Overview
One of the most unique sport programs Saint Mary's Hall has to offer, Field Hockey's rich history is inextricably linked with the school's own. As the only team in the city, it is a beacon to coaches and players alike who have playing experience, while also attracting new players each year who are intrigued by this historically northeastern sport. Our program seeks to embody and enhance values such as sportsmanship, commitment, discipline, and respect. We hope to instill confidence and leadership skills in our athletes that will simultaneously serve them well and help them better serve others as role models, both on and off the field. The prototypical SMH field hockey player is well rounded, and participates in many other facets of school from speech and drama, to Junior State of America, to a myriad of other sports. They are student body leaders, mentors, and volunteers who epitomize the school's core values. They are self-respecting, motivated, intelligent young women committed to getting the most out of all Saint Mary' Hall has to offer. Since 2016, the Varsity team has competed in the TAPPS Field Hockey Conference and earned the title of Conference Champions in its inaugural season. While still playing against many former SPC rivals throughout Texas, the Baron's compete against Dallas' Parish Episcopal, Houston's Duchesne Academy and St. Agnes Academy and Fort Worth's All Saints Episcopal School in conference play. At the next level, Saint Mary's Hall has sent players to various tiers of collegiate play, at schools like Denison University, Davidson College, Bowdoin College and Hamilton College.
