The basketball program at SMH is growing by leaps and bounds. We recently renovated our two existing gyms and have also added the Ancira Events Center with two more full size courts. Our program consists of multiple teams from the Lower and Middle Schools, and 3 Upper School teams. These courts will allow for more significant practice time and game opportunities for all levels of our basketball program.
The varsity program plays an extremely competitive schedule in TAPPS 6A District 3. While each year we do have some players for whom basketball is their only varsity sport, the vast majority of our players are talented multi-sport varsity athletes. We are very glad that most of our players continue the proud prep school tradition of participating in multiple sports.
Our program focuses on teaching the fundamentals. Everyone in the program will learn about how to be a good teammate and to work together to pursue a common goal. We hope that each of the boys will learn the value of hard work, teamwork, competitiveness, and respect that will help them to be successful in every area of their life.
