Students applying for Montessori and Kindergarten for the 2024-2025 school year must be toilet-trained by first day of school and should be the following ages by September 1, 2024:
Applicants will participate in a developmental screening on campus. Before an assessment can be scheduled, children must be at least two years and eight months old and have submitted an application.
Kindergarten – Form 1
Applicants will take the KBIT-2, a cognitive abilities assessment. We commonly refer families to Dr. John Cannell as he's very familiar with independent schools in the San Antonio area, but applicants are welcome to find any licensed psychologist in their area who administers the assessment.

Testing fee is $175.
Applicants will also participate in an academic assessment on campus. Before an assessment can be scheduled, an application must be submitted.

During the visit, your child will shadow a Baron Ambassador through their schedule and enjoy lunch, and applicants to Forms 6-8 will complete a brief applicant interview with Julie Hellmund, Head of Admission and Enrollment Management.
The SMH financial aid program provides tuition assistance to qualified applicants in Forms 1 - 8 with demonstrated need, and we encourage any family who may need assistance to apply. We are proud to partner with Clarity to assist us in determining a family's need. The deadline for submitting your financial aid application to Clarity is Friday, December 6, 2024, by 4:00 p.m.
While financial aid applications received after the deadline are welcomed, they will be considered based on the availability of funds.
