SMH Headlines
The pandemic has changed our way of life, yet it has also created opportunities for our community to find ways to support each other. SMH students have shown resilience and have created new initiatives to connect with each other.
The qualities and skills indicative of the rank of Eagle Scout are based on the tenets of leadership, character development, citizenship, and physical fitness. These tenets are also reflective of the caliber of character for which Saint Mary’s Hall students are known.
Whether it’s the varsity football team advancing to the State Quarterfinals with their first female kicker, the women’s varsity soccer team having the leading goal scorer in San Antonio, a coach celebrating 40 years at SMH, a men’s varsity basketball team ranked #1, swimmers dominating in the pool, or alumni thriving in collegiate sports, SMH athletics is ablaze with success.
After the conclusion of a nationwide search, Saint Mary’s Hall is pleased to name Elizabeth (Liz) Stockdale as our next head of Upper School. With an extensive background in education, Liz brings a high level of experience to our school. Most recently, Liz served as the Upper School dean of students at The Harpeth Hall School in Nashville, Tennessee. Previously, she was the student life coordinator and a history teacher at The Emery/Weiner School in Houston, Texas. She has also taught and coached at The Foxcroft School in Middleburg, Virginia and Mercersburg Academy in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania.
Saint Mary Hall (SMH) Upper School Science Teacher Dr. Jamie Holbrook, who received the 2019 Educator Award (and grant) from the Texas Biomedical Forum, is putting the grant to enriching use for SMH students. Because of the award, she was able to conduct a hybrid collaborative lab between in-person and virtual students.
