European Study Trip 1967

European Study Trip, (ca 1967)

The Shield, Spring 2013

In the summer of 1967, a group of Saint Mary’s Hall students made their way to Copenhagen, Denmark as part of a European Study trip sponsored by SMH. The yearly summer trip allowed students to experience new destinations. This photo was taken as the group was either leaving for Denmark or returning home to San Antonio on the airline Scandinavian Airlines System or SAS. The young women in this photo were an eclectic group with … Capers officers, the La Reata editor, Capers cheerleaders, and senior class officers. The trip was chaperoned by Ruth Helms, dean of students and head of science department. Also accompanying the women was headmaster William R. Garrison. This picture, “The Summer trip to Europe,” was published in the 1969 issue of La Reata, the school yearbook.
