In honor of Bishop Elliott and Bishop Capers, the two Episcopalian Bishops who were instrumental to the founding and modern re-organization of Saint Mary’s Hall, one student from each of the schools or school districts below will receive a discount of 50% tuition for Forms 9-12. Recipients will have exhibited a strong interest in a variety of extracurricular activities, as well as clear signs of leadership, initiative, and commitment to serving their school community. 

The deadline for the Capers and Elliott Leadership Award is Friday, November 15, 2019 at 4pm.

In honor of Mrs. Jamie Armstrong Bennett, who attended Saint Mary’s Hall from 1924-1930, this scholarship is awarded to one or more female students who have completed Forms 9 and 10 at Saint Mary’s Hall. Recipients of this award have demonstrated consistent academic excellence and exhibited a strong interest in a variety of extracurricular activities. To her teachers and fellow classmates, there should be clear signs of leadership, initiative, and commitment to serving the community.

The deadline for the Jamie Armstrong and John Mirza Bennett Leadership Award is February 7, 2020 at 4pm.

Who can apply:

• Female students who have completed Forms 9 and 10 at Saint Mary's Hall
• Female students with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.25
• Female students who have demonstrated strong interest in a variety of extracurricular activities, consistent academic excellence, and an understanding of our core values

The Major General Daniel S. and Mrs. Ruth Taylor Campbell Scholarship awards two full-tuition scholarships each year to rising Form 9 students demonstrating high achievement and outstanding leadership. All finalists who are not selected as Campbell Scholars are awarded the Sally and Glenn Ramsdell Scholarship (a one-time $5,000 award), and up to 100% of any additional demonstrated financial need.

Campbell Scholars distinguish themselves through their leadership on campus and their service to the community.

• Students with an average in the 90th percentile or above for the four sections of the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE), with no score below the 80th percentile
• Students with a minimum GPA of 4.0 for the first quarter. Only core academic course grades will be considered (English, math, science, and social studies).

The Sally and Glenn Ramsdell Scholarship honors the memory of Jacquelyn E. Ramsdell (Class of 1943) and is awarded to new or current students entering Form 9 who qualify as finalists in the Campbell Academic Scholarship Competition.

This scholarship was made possible by a bequest from Rupert Neely Gresham, Jr. in honor of his sister, Susan Gresham Davidge (Class of 1941), and awards full-tuition each year to a rising Form 9 student who demonstrates both high achievement and outstanding leadership.

The deadline for the Gresham Scholarship is January 17, 2020 at 4 pm.

Who can apply:

• Rising Form 9 students not currently enrolled at Saint Mary’s Hall
• Students with a minimum GPA of 3.2 in core academic classes (English, math, science, and social studies) for grades 6-8
• Students who score an average in the 85th percentile or above in the four sections of the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE) with no individual score below the 75th percentile in any one section
• Students must have participated in at least one school-approved extracurricular activity each year during grades six 6-8

• Submit Essay Requirement
• Submit two Scholarship Recommendation Forms focusing on the student's leadership and extracurricular activities
• Submit a copy of the student's transcript (report card) from grade six (6) through the first semester of grade eight (8)
• Four finalists will be selected by the Upper School Admission Committee and notified by January 24, 2020. Interviews will be scheduled the following week and decisions made by February 3, 2020.

In memory of Ben McMurray (Class of 2006), this scholarship is made possible by the McMurray family, their many friends, SMH students, and other contributors. Recipients of this scholarship are Upper School students who have been selected because they embody the big-hearted and spirited life that characterized Ben.

How to apply:

In honor of Mrs. Betty Stieren Kelso (Class of 1950), this scholarship is awarded to students who have a demonstrated financial need, and who have demonstrated the ability to be successful at Saint Mary’s Hall by meeting all admission criteria. While not a requirement, students with parents in the active or retired military will receive preference when naming the scholarship recipients.

This scholarship honors former beloved Saint Mary’s Hall coach and mentor Earl Bill, and is made possible by Tesoro Petroleum and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Smith. This scholarship recognizes a deserving Upper School student who is actively involved in the school community.

It is awarded to new Form 9 students enrolling at Saint Mary’s Hall with a focus on making an independent school education possible for students with demonstrated financial need. The deadline for the Greehey Family Foundation Scholarship is February 8, 2019 at 4 pm.

Who can apply:

• New students entering Saint Mary’s Hall in Form 9
• Students who do not currently attend a private or independent school
• Students with demonstrated financial need
• Students in good academic standing with demonstrated understanding of our core values

This scholarship is awarded to a young woman who demonstrates academic excellence and possesses outstanding leadership qualities. Preference is given to female students with an established record of community service and an expressed interest in athletics while attending Saint Mary’s Hall. The selected candidate will receive an award of $4,000 until graduation as long as she continues to meet the scholarship requirements.

This scholarship was created by our Board of Trustees in honor of the retirement of Jerry Rosen, long-time Saint Mary’s Hall development director and his wife, Shifra, a former Form 2 teacher. This scholarship is awarded to an incoming Form 9 student who demonstrates strong academic and artistic abilities.

• Students who have completed the Campbell Academic Scholarship Competition
• Students with strong artistic abilities
• Students who score in the 80th percentile or above on each sub-test of the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE)
• Students with a minimum GPA of 3.20 (only academic course grades will be considered)
• Students who have demonstrated an understanding of our core values
